Kinston 1 GB DDR 2 RAM

Kinston 1 GB DDR 2 RAM cheap and twice as efficient as the DDR 1 RAM. Gone are the days of DDR 1 RAM, DDR 2 is here which is cheaper and faster than the DDR 1 RAM. The price is half of what the DDR 1 RAM cost but the speed is just doubled. I think this is the only hardware peripheral were we are getting better quality product for a cheaper price.

My machine was giving quite some problem, it would hang up pretty much and I went to the nearby service centre to show my problem. After seeing my problem he recommended me to upgrade my RAM memory as it was just very low (256 MB only). After thinking for a while I thought of changing it and asked him for a Seagate 1 GB DDR 1 RAM as I didn’t know about the DDR 2 RAM then. The store owner being a friend of fine advice me against going for Seagate RAM and suggested me a Kinston RAM and since I had an M.S.I motherboard he also told me to go for the DDR 2 RAM which was cheaper and much better than DDR 1 RAM. I did as I was told and paid him for the Kinston DDR 2 RAM and he upgraded it himself for me.

I came back home after upgrading the RAM and was happy to see my machine working faster and better. The hanging problem was all over and the processing was lighting fast now. It’s been quite some time since I have been using the Kinston DDR 2 RAM and I am just very satisfied with the efficient service the RAM provides. It’s fast ,cheap and just the best solution for small time users like myself.

Checking hard drive errors

When to check hard drive for errors:

Hard drive is the place where mostly the data is kept by the organization or by an individual. So, when the hard drive fails, there are high chances that all your important data would lose. Therefore, you must know some signs that point out to the chances of hard drive failure. If you successfully find the error then you can fix it easily. However, the hard drive may not indicate any symptoms before it fails. You may have worked normally one day, but the next day processor may even fail to read data from it. Normally, the hard drive starts with some bad sectors and they keep on increasing over a period of time. If you decide earlier for trouble shooting then you can save much of your important data.

Here are some important points that one should keep in mind as they directly indicate that a check-up of hard drive is required.

If you fail to access a particular program/file/section saved on your hard drive, or it takes a longer time to open it then you should check the hard drive for speed and viruses.
If your disk defragmentation program indicates that a proper check is required then don’t waste time or delay it.
If you are listen strange noises coming from hard drive then a proper check is compulsory and urgent.

Recover Hard Drive,

To recover a hard drive there are some things to keep in mind;

In today’s highly advanced technological age, computers become a necessity for most of us. However, with the advent of computers, several computer-related problems occur, and perhaps one of the most commonly-faced is hard drive recovery problems.

It may seem ironic that although computer users often encounter hard drive recovery problems, only few of them are well-informed about the recovery techniques and what a hard drive recovery is. Many were told that hard drive recovery is just easy and that storing data on a hard drive is one hundred percent safe. The truth is, this is not always the case. A number of data stored in a hard drive are not always recoverable, thus the stored information is not always exactly safe.

Before you intend to recover hard drive remember, hard drives are a piece of mechanical engineering that gyrates at around 120 times per second, and sometimes continuously. Amazing as it may seem, these pirouetting platters are spinning at such velocity that with only a small interference in usage can actually havoc the disk in a certain zone. Fortunately, hard drive recovery experts were able to develop the so-called ôfail safe hard drive recovery proceduresö that generally help the hard disk to recover when there is small amount of physical damage done to the drive. But still, we must leave our minds open to any critical hard drive recovery failures because problems do occur.

There is one particular all-time truth when it comes to hard drive recovery failures, that is, the real threat to hard drives are the people that operate them. As you may know, many computer users just ignore hard drive recovery. They rather tend to buy other hard drives without considering first a hard drive recovery. They oftentimes tend to employ the Fdisk and other hard drive recovery utilities to prepare and repair other peoplesÆ hard drives which in fact they were not sure of what they were doing. In analogy, this is like giving a 6 years old child a responsibility for cooking.

So instead of just ignoring to recover the hard drive, people should note that when several areas of the disk drive fail, the hard d rive is certainly a trash. A situation like this no doubt requires the expertise of a hard drive recovery expert. And, contrary to popular belief, a hard drive recovery is often very expensive. Much worse, it is a little bit tricky, especially for those who are not really adept to hard drive recovery procedures. However, if you are fortunate enough to have made routine back ups of your necessary hard drive data, then certainly you have small dilemmas regarding hard drive recovery.

In order to successfully recover a hard drive, everyone should follow the rules set for such application. The most vital rule in hard drive recovery is not to write anything more to the affected hard drive. It is also important that if you have deleted a partition by accident, creating another partition is not advisable. So, in hard drive recovery, it is better to just leave it blank. When the deletion of files occur in the recycling bin that you later on recognize you need, it is best not to save anything to the drive because the hard drive does not actually erase data or partition. When you erase a file from the operating system, it is just labeled on the drive as having been deleted. And, you save more files on the drive; the system will consider the files as being empty space and gladly copy over them. If this situation occurs, just expect lesser hope of successful hard drive recovery.

How to Avoid Hard Drive Overheating

Even though the hard drive stores data, it isn?t perfect by any means. Hard drive failure is very common with all computers, with no real way to prevent it. Although there are several different reasons why a hard drive can fail, the most common is overheating. Viruses and crashes are common as well, along with theft and accidental deletion.

With the older style and mechanics of hard drives, the RPM speed was low, meaning that the drives wouldn’t overheat. The hard drives we use now days, have speeds between 7,200 and 10,000 RPM, meaning that they can get quite hot when they start working. Computers of this day and age come with fans to cool everything down, with most hard drives including temperature sensors as well, so you can keep track of just how hot your hard drive becomes.

With hard drives today, overheating is a very common problem. The faster hard drives come with speeds of 10,000 RPM, which can make the temperature soar above 70 degrees F, really heating things up inside the drive. The mechanics on the inside are built to withstand the heat, although if things become too hot, you?ll encounter problems. If a drive becomes too hot and ends up losing the data, it may be next to impossible to retrieve the information – no matter how good your data recovery specialists may be.

One area that suffers from the drive overheating is the platters, which are magnetic media. Platters are what carry the data throughout the hard drive. Platters are constructed from optical glass, aluminum, or ceramic and normally coated with a layer of magnetic material. Once the hard drive begins to heat up, the platters will start to expand, which changes their size. When this happens, the magnetic surface on the platters will get destroyed, which results in a loss of data. If the physical area of the platters are damaged, it will result in unreadable sectors.

Other areas of the hard drive that can be damaged due to overheating are the read and write heads, head actuator, and the controller chip. Hard drives are very sophisticated pieces of hardware, and can?t handle overheating. The read and write heads are a common example, as they can easily render the drive useless if they become damaged.

To prevent your hard drive from overheating, you should always make sure that it is cooled properly and well ventilated. You can always get additional fans and coolers, which will improve both ventilation and the flow of air in your computer. You can buy fans and coolers at very affordable prices, which makes them an ideal investment for keeping your hard drive or hard drives cool.

You can also get software that monitors the temperature of your hard drive as well. Whether it?s software, or additional fans, you should always ensure that your hard drives are kept cool. By keeping them cool, you?ll greatly reduce the amount of crashes. You?ll also increase the stability of your hard drive as well, which will make your entire computer perform much better.

Useful Tips to Choose the Best Gaming Motherboard

Motherboard is the heart of the whole computer system. It is the part that connects all the other parts together and make sure they run smoothly. As such, choosing the best gaming motherboard is the most important task that you need to do when building a gaming computer. This article will teach you how to choose the best gaming motherboard.

Decide which type of CPU to use

This may seem irrelevant to choosing a motherboard. In actual fact, this is the most important thing you need to do before selecting a motherboard. The reason being that the type of CPU will determine the type of motherboard you need. For example, if you choose an Intel CPU, then you have to get the socket 775 motherboard or else the CPU won’t fit into the motherboard. Deciding on the type of CPU will help you to make a better choice when choosing the best gaming motherboard.

Determine if the motherboard supports the type of CPU you have chosen

As mentioned before, if you are using an Intel CPU, you have to get a socket 775 motherboard whereas an AMD CPU requires a socket AM2 motherboard. In addition, some of the older socket 775 motherboards do not support dual core processors (even though they use the same socket) or even quad-core processors. Check out the manufacturer’s website to get confirmation before you buy the motherboard.

Overclocking feature

If you are overclocking your CPU, you have to get a motherboard that allows you to change the FSB speed and CPU voltage in small increments.

RAM support and no of memory slot

Your motherboard must be able to support DDR2 RAM, for a simple reason that DDR2 is currently the fastest RAM in the market. Extra thing to take note is the maximum speed of RAM that the motherboard supports. Some motherboards can support only up to DDR2 667MHz RAM while the latest ones can support up to DDR2 1066MHz.

In addition, you may want to upgrade your RAM in the future, therefore your current motherboard must have at least 4 memory slots and can support up to 8GB RAM so that you have the option to upgrade in the future.

SLI/ Crossfire ready

SLI / Crossfire ready motherboard means that you can make use of two identical high performing graphics card to render the graphics, thus achieving a faster and more realistic video effects. Not every motherboard supports this feature. As video effects getting more and more advanced, it will be soon that SLI or Crossfire technology becomes the standard for video display. Therefore, even if you are not using this technology now, it is still advisable to get a gaming motherboard with SLI or Crossfire feature.

SATA 2 controller

SATA2 can transfer data at twice the speed of SATA 1. When it comes to gaming, every single speed counts and that increase in speed might be the deciding factor in your game. A SATA 2 port is backward compatible with SATA 1 devices, but not the other way round. It is better for you to get a motherboard that supports SATA 2 devices. In addition, if you are using RAID, then you have to get a motherboard that has four SATA 2 ports.

Extra Features

You might want to consider extra features such as extra USB2.0 ports, firewire, integrated LAN and front-panel LED when choosing a gaming motherboard. Some of the motherboards contain more features than the other and you have to compare around to see the differences.

Features such as integrated sound and video are not as important in the best gaming motherboard since they could not contribute well to a good gaming session. For a gaming computer, you have to get a separate graphics card and sound card so as to play the latest game in the market.

Conclusion

When getting the best gaming motherboard, it is worthwhile to do some market research and compare with various boards. Since it is the most important part in the whole computer system, don’t ever scrimp money on it.

Computer Motherboards

A motherboard is one of the most essential pieces of equipment needed for a computer to function. Motherboards are the central hubs through which every piece of hardware communicates. Components such as graphics cards, memory sticks, hard drives, and CPUs (short for central processing unit) all require the motherboard as a base of operations and would all be useless without one.

One main feature to look at when considering a motherboard is its bus speed. There are many different types of buses including the front side bus, back side bus, PCI bus, and memory bus. The front side bus is usually considered the most important as it connects the CPU to all the other components of the computer. The front side bus can range anywhere from 66 MHz to over 800 MHz–the higher the bus speed of a motherboard the faster the computer can transfer information between its multitude of parts.

Higher bus speeds thus equate to more powerful computers and faster processing. It is important to note that having high bus speeds in a motherboard will not make up for slow a slow CPU, they will only allow the computer to run as efficiently as possible given its network of elements.

Memory slots are another vital part of motherboards. The more memory, or RAM (short for random-access memory) a computer has, the higher the amount of information that can be processed at a single time. It is therefore desirable to have at least two or three memory slots in a motherboard to upgrade RAM as the user deems necessary. It is also important to note that there are different types of memory sticks such as SDRAM and DDR SDRAM. The physical composition of these types differ greatly and must be matched to the type of RAM the motherboard supports otherwise they will not fit into the memory slots.

PCI (short for peripheral component interconnect) slots and AGP (short for accelerated graphics port) slots are another major component of motherboards.

PCI slots allow a user to connect peripherals such as sound cards, network cards, and modems. AGP slots allow a user to connect graphics cards for higher image handling capability. If a user knows he or she will need many peripheral devices or will require higher video function, then it is important for that user to pick out a motherboard that will both support the necessary peripherals as well as keep them functioning at optimum levels.

Cooling motherboards and its components, especially the CPU, is also vital to a computer’s peak performance and sustainability. Cooling units such as fans and high-tech cooling devices are necessary to make sure a computer does not overheat. If a computer does overheat, it can cause irreversible damage to the computer’s components, which in turn will cost the user lots of money in repairs.

Choosing the right motherboard to suit the user’s needs is an important process when deciding on a computer. Without a proper motherboard a computer will never reach its full potential and may not even function at all.

Cloud Computing Education Taken to the Next Level

Cloud Computing Education Taken to the Next Level

There is no surprise that cloud computing education is a necessary tool for many companies and even schools. With this type of computation system that should not be confused with others such as grid computing, utility computing or autonomic computing. Even if you are not completely familiar with cloud computing, you most definitely use it on a regular basis such in computer applications like Skype. The interesting part about cloud computing is that entire systems can be set up on a renting basis. The infrastructure of your project and the access tools and applications used can be rented rather than the more commonly owned tools to get these businesses and projects running.

The Economics of Cloud Computing

With a down spiraling economy, with already cut IT budgets, cloud computing education may be the answer to many problems, especially IT financial problems. Many critics wonder if this type of computation system will really work in the long run, if it is a quick fix for a poor economy or if it will just fizzle out like other computation promises. Regardless of the suspected hype that this new system has generated, it is true that cloud computation is another form of what most people are accustomed to such as social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace, email systems like Hotmail, email filtering companies and even security monitoring. These are all forms of clouds computation.

What Benefits Does Cloud Computing Have on Education?

It is no wonder why students find themselves in a bond. Not only do they have to worry about student loans and purchasing books, but they also have to spend hundreds of dollars on computer software in order to complete their assignments and prevent their computer from failing on them. With this in mind, cloud computing education allows computer users to use desired applications without the necessity of purchasing the software, the frustration of installing it or the hassle of taking up computer memory with support software. Through different cloud platforms like Software as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service, cloud computing is made possible.

Considering the money saved through these cloud applications, most speculate that the largest benefit that cloud computing has on education is its economic factor. Instead of purchasing software and infrastructures, renting prices are determined by how often and how many services are being used. All software and data are stored in a remote host which enables computers to free up space while also being accessible at any time for users. Considering the amount of resources that cloud computing offers, users can find just about any type of infrastructure, service or software that they need. This helps to cut costs for educational institutions or any type of organization or business that uses cloud computing since these organizations will no longer have to purchase expensive software for an individual or a limited small number of employees and students.

Many experts in the IT field believe in Cloud Computing education and the benefits that it can provide for millions of computer users on a daily basis. However, only time will tell if this computation system will prove to be a success in the world of computation.
